Juneau’s community of outdoor enthusiasts are an important component to the success of our operation, and we believe that being a local should yield certain benefits. We work voluntarily with the Southeast Alaska Avalanche Center, Eaglecrest Ski Patrol, Juneau Mountain Rescue, University of Alaska Southeast, and City & Borough of Juneau regarding avalanche data & forecasting, and backcountry rescue in our area.
We assist with educational programs focused on mountain environments, and donate helicopter time for scientific research. Look for door-prizes and giveaways such as free heli-ski trips, tee-shirts, hats, and stickers at film events, the ski swap, Eaglecrest, KTOO fund raisers, and other venues.
APD will help sponsor local athletes and invite those who possess a vision, passion, and goal for Juneau’s wilderness to approach us with your ideas. Be ready in spring of 2010 for a community heli-ski day event at an obscenely low price. We hope that our operation makes Juneau a little bit cooler place to live, and thank you for your support.
